Job Description: We are currently seeking a passionate and motivated Social Media and Marketing Officer to join our team!
The successful candidate will assist in creating engaging content, help manage our social media platforms and enhance online presence/digital engagement across National Indigenous Times, Indigenous Business Review and Style Up.
Reporting to the Social & Digital Media Coordinator, this role requires creativity, attention to detail, cultural awareness, and a strong interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander media, arts, business and community affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, schedule and publish social media posts across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Spotify, and X.
- Assist in preparing captions, headlines, hashtags and tags that are culturally appropriate and audience-relevant.
- Support the promotion of breaking news, feature articles, lifestyle content, opinion pieces and special editions.
- Maintain the social media content calendar in coordination with the Coordinator.
- Manage NIT's photo social page.
Visual Content and Campaign Support
- Assist in designing visual assets for social media and marketing using Canva or similar tools (e.g. tiles, quote cards, announcement graphics).
- Support the execution of digital components of commercial campaigns, sponsored content, and branded partnerships.
Monitoring and Engagement
- Monitor audience engagement and assist in responding to messages, comments and enquiries across social channels.
- Help flag trending content, audience feedback or reputational risks for the attention of the Coordinator.
- Support real-time posting or live coverage during events, launches or campaign periods as required.
Analytics and Reporting
- Assist in tracking social media metrics using tools such as Meta Business Suite, Instagram Insights, or Google Analytics.
- Provide data and screenshots for periodic reports prepared by the Coordinator.
- Help analyse which stories and formats are performing well to guide future content planning.
Marketing and Editorial Support
- Support the preparation and scheduling of regular email newsletters.
- Assist with uploading marketing material to the website or e-commerce platforms when required.
