At the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU), that is the work you will help drive. We are seeking three motivated, member-focused Organisers to build participation, recruit members and support campaigns across Victorian universities.

About NTEU

NTEU represents academic, general, research and professional staff across universities, associated companies, research institutes, TAFE, student unions, and adult and community education. Our Victorian Division works with members to strengthen their collective voice and advocate for their rights at work.

Your role in building a stronger union

Working initially across universities in Victoria, you will help members turn workplace concerns into collective action. You will bring people together, encourage involvement and contribute to organising and campaigning at both Branch and state-wide levels.

Your work will include:

• Building relationships with members and potential members
• Recruiting members and encouraging active participation in their union
• Supporting the planning and delivery of organising activities and campaigns
• Taking responsibility for allocated Branch and state-wide tasks and projects
• Completing the administrative work that supports effective organising
• Travel between Branches is expected, and you may be allocated to other NTEU Branches within Victoria from time to time.

What you will bring

You will have experience in organising, recruitment and campaigning within a trade union or social justice organisation. You understand the value of collective action and can connect with people, listen to their concerns and motivate them to get involved. Alongside a strong commitment to the trade union movement, you will bring a member-focused approach, initiative and the ability to follow through on tasks and projects.

The opportunities

We have three full-time positions available:

One ongoing position, available from 17 October 2026

One 14-month fixed-term position, available from 17 October 2026

One 8-month fixed-term position, available immediately

Appointments will be made at NTEU Level 5 or 6 ($102,629-$127,020

FTE), depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation.

Terms and conditions are covered by a national collective agreement, with provisions comparable to those of the members we represent.
