Who are we?
The Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia Limited (AHCSA) is the peak body representing Aboriginal community-controlled health in South Australia at state and national levels.
Our primary role is to be the ‘health voice’ for all Aboriginal people in South Australia. We achieve this by advocating for the community and supporting workers through our Member Services with appropriate Aboriginal health programs based on a holistic perspective of health.
AHCSA delivers nationally accredited training and has been registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) since 2004 (RTO 40142). AHCSA prides itself on providing a comfortable learning environment reflective of the organisation’s cultural values and connections.
AHCSA strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive workplace that values lived experience, community connection, and diverse perspectives.
About the role
The Jurisdictional Traineeship Coordinator supports the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce across South Australia by coordinating traineeships for Aboriginal Health Workers (AHWs) and Aboriginal Health Practitioners (AHPs).

The Coordinator ensures trainees progress successfully and complete their programs.
Working collaboratively with Workforce and RTO teams, the JT Coordinator oversees and monitors workforce demand across the sector and provides advice on funding opportunities and available supports to stakeholders. The role builds and maintains strong relationships to support effective program delivery and long-term workforce outcomes.
The position works in partnership with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) to deliver the First Nations Health Worker Traineeship Program, an Australian Government initiative supporting up to 500 First Nations trainees to undertake accredited training by 2027.
