The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission) leads national improvements in the safety and quality of health care. We work with patients, carers, clinicians, governments and healthcare organisations to improve health outcomes for all Australians.
The Commission is expanding its First Nations Health and Systems Reform work and is seeking candidates for temporary opportunities at the APS4, APS5, APS6, EL1 and EL2 levels.

Roles may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

What we're looking for
We are looking for candidates with skills, knowledge and experience in areas such as:
-
Working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations

Understanding the issues affecting the health and wellbeing of First Nations peoples
-
Policy development and/or project management
-
Research, analysis and problem-solving
-
Building relationships and working with a range of people and organisations
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Knowledge of the Australian healthcare system
For EL2 roles, leadership experience, people management skills and experience providing advice to support decision-making will be highly regarded.

Eligibility
Opportunities may be filled through either:

the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affirmative Measure Register, which is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

the First Nations Identified Positions Register, which is open to people who can demonstrate relevant cultural knowledge, understanding and/or experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations.
While opportunities may be filled through either the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affirmative Measure or as Identified positions, the Commission will give priority consideration to the use of the Affirmative Measure. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and lived experience are highly valued and help inform and strengthen our work.

This register will remain active for 12 months until 9 October 2027. Your application will remain in the register for this period. After that time, a new register will be created, and you will need to submit a new application.
