Executive Division (EXD)
The Counter Fraud and Anti-Corruption Section (FCS) within the Executive Division (EXD) is seeking a candidate with relevant experience and qualifications in fraud and corruption control and case management. As an Assistant Director, you will lead key work streams, contribute to the department’s fraud and corruption control framework, and provide strategic advice to senior executives and business areas. The role offers exposure across the department’s operations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
FCS is responsible for the department’s fraud and corruption control framework and related control activities, including:
• Fraud and corruption case management and oversight
• Policy and guidance development
• Risk assessments and control plans
• Control effectiveness reviews
• Training and awareness activities
• Executive and legislative reporting
• Delivery of the department’s Integrity Strategy
Assistant Directors report to the Director FCS and operate with a high degree of judgement and accountability, working on complex and sensitive matters with government and non-government partners.
This is a challenging role suited to critical thinkers and problem solvers who have a high attention to detail, good verbal and written communication, and can use judgement while managing risk.
The role requires strong judgement, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships, provide evidence-based advice, and apply legislation, policy and operational requirements to support sound decision-making.
Regulatory and Legal Policy Division (RLD)
The Sanctions Monitoring and Compliance Section within the Australian Sanctions Office (ASO) is seeking motivated candidates to support Australia’s sanctions regulatory framework.
The ASO:
• Provides guidance on Australian sanctions laws
• Assesses and issues sanctions permits
• Works with industry and government partners to support compliance
• Develops sanctions policy and administers Australia’s sanctions frameworks.
The Assistant Director plays a critical part in the ASO’s work, including by:
• Working with businesses, individuals and organisations to promote compliance
• Partnering with government agencies to monitor compliance
• Supporting corrective and enforcement action where non-compliance is suspected.

Australian Passport Office (APO)
The Passport Fraud and Integrity Section (PFS) within the Australian Passport Office (APO) is seeking an experienced intelligence professional to join its Passport Intelligence Unit.
This role is responsible for delivering timely intelligence products to support investigations into external and internal passport fraud. The position offers a fast-paced environment with significant autonomy, reporting to the Director, Passport Fraud and Integrity.
PFS plays a critical role in protecting the integrity of Australian Passports and APO systems. The section is comprised of 6 specialist units which include forensic examination, data analytics, investigations, identity resolution and fraud liaison.
The Passport Fraud Manager will operate with a high degree of judgement and accountability, working on complex and sensitive matters with government and non-government partners. The role requires the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, provide clear and evidence-based policy advice to internal and external stakeholders, and apply passport legislation, policy and operational requirements to support sound, defensible decision-making within the passport issuance process.
