A 21-year-old Yawuru woman from Broome has been chosen to travel to Hong Kong as part of a cultural exchange program.

Emma-Lee Foy will be among seven WA delegates who will visit Hong Kong in February as part of an International Youth Exchange Program, funded by WA’s Department of Local Government and Communities.

Ms Lee-Foy is studying for a Bachelor of Education at Charles Deakin University in Melbourne and has worked as a volunteer with children and youths in Broome and the Kimberley.

She also recently taught at an international school in Borneo.

Meanwhile seven young people from Hong Kong arrived in WA this week as part of the exchange.

The program was started by the WA Government and the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

It aims to give young people the chance to understand different cultures, form international friendships and set education and career goals.
