The Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra has been rejected for inclusion on the Commonwealth Heritage List.
The Australian Heritage Council found the site in front of Old Parliament House meets the assessment criteria and also has significant heritage value.
But the Federal Government has knocked back the application.
